I first visited Tramsheds back in February when it was still relatively undiscovered. At that time, it was still quite easy to walk-in and grab a table. Of course, it didn’t stay that way for long. We visited again a week ago and quickly realised some of the more popular restaurants had already been booked out. We ended up finding a table at Sir Chapel’s Bistro & Brewery. We should have taken this as a sign there was something wrong at Sir Chapel’s.
The experience was a complete letdown, for what could have been great with a few simple changes. The waitresses lure you in with a huge smile, but we quickly discovered this smile was a facade for forgetfulness, untrained staff, slow service and a heap of hidden charges.
For a fancy-looking establishment, the menus are in need of an update and should be combined into one, rather than split into different sheets of paper. We had to ask multiple times for a lunch menu (at one point, we had one waitress collect all our breakfast menus and another waitress coming back to hand us out breakfast menus again =/) – it was hard to flag down staff, so this was a huge waste of time.
It’s not clearly stated on the menu what’s included with burgers (FYI, chips are included, sweet potato chips incur an extra charge). When ordering, the waitress told us we could choose sweet potato chips instead of normal chips without stating there was an extra charge (doesn’t make sense, considering they cost the same on the menu when ordered separately). We were also charged extra for Sunday and an extra 10% for being a group which we weren’t made aware of beforehand. Considering the restaurant was half empty, we could have entered in two separate groups and been seated on two separate table without being charged an extra $20+ (that’s almost the cost of another 2 meals!).
Two of our burgers came out with missing pineapple and when we told the waitress she went and told the kitchen, only to return with the response from the kitchen being “they are adamant they added pineapple, our pineapple is different and small so you might not be able to see it“. Wondering what type of ‘special pineapple’ they added, we pretty much deconstructed our burgers to still find no trace of even a speck of pineapple. After complaining to a different waitress, she returned from the kitchen with two slices of pineapple – the typical slices you find from cans…(not special at all)
I usually provide reviews for individual dishes, but this time around, it’s not even worth my time and I definitely will not be returning.
