So, there’s 12 days til’ Christmas and you have yet to get a gift. You’ve narrowed the gift hunt down to one factor; travel! Your friend loves to travel, he/she practically lives and breathes travel! Well, here are some last minute gift ideas you can order from the comfort of your own home. Click that order button today and receive it in time for Christmas! Or, if you have a store near you, get out there and grab it before it’s all gone.
The Travel Planner
Your traveler friend is currently at home planning away for their next adventure. In fact, they seem to always be spending time planning that it could practically be a second job (if they were getting paid for it). Here are some gift ideas to help them on their way:
Airbnb Gift Card
Starting from AUD $25
I think I’ve mentioned Airbnb so much in my posts that it seems like I am getting paid to do it (I wish). In fact, I just simply love Airbnb so much that I recommend it constantly to friends and family. If your friend doesn’t have accommodation sorted yet, this could be an awesome gift! $100 could probably pay for 1 night depending on the accommodation they select. Not bad!
GET A PLANNER FOR THE PLANNER
kikki.K Small Weekly diary: Cute
Travelling takes a lot of careful planning. Give them a place to jot down important dates, reminders and notes with this fun diary by kikki.K. I actually received one last year which has come in really handy for me throughout 2016. Grab the 2017 version now!
kikki.K Mini Desk Calendar: Cute
Diaries not their thing? How about a desk calendar so they can place it on their desk at work or in their home office. Help them stay motivated as they countdown each day til’ their next holiday.
Kate Spade Zip Around Personal Organizer/Planner 2017
Bon Bon Stripes: USD $165
Black: USD $225
For something a little more luxurious, Kate Spade also makes a really beautiful range of planners. Made from genuine leather, these are a great accessory for the more mature traveler friend. It even comes with credit card slots, so they can practically use it as a wallet as well. Unfortunately, I could only find Amazon links for the above designs. If you do not have access to Amazon, you can also find a really nice red design on the Official Kate Spade Website for USD $198.
Lilly Pulitzer 17-month Large Agendas 2016-2017
Southern Charm: USD $28.76
Tusk in Sun: WAS USD $30 NOW USD $20.49
Ocean Jewels: USD $36
Like a bit more colour? These agendas/planners by Lilly Pulitzer contain beautifully handpainted art and are so affordable! Unfortunately, I could only find Amazon links for the above designs. If you do not have access to Amazon, you can try Ebay; prices and shipping times will vary.
PREPARE THEM WITH A GYM MEMBERSHIP
One thing I find that I struggle with when I travel is being able to keep up. Climbing that mountain always looks so much easier on TripAdvisor than when you actually get there and are struggling to take another step. After one bad experience at the foot of a very small mountain in Vietnam, I decided I would try to hit the gym and stay active, it prepares my body for all the activities I have planned on my travels and makes it all that more enjoyable. Get your traveler friend a gym membership or sign them up for some classes! They will love you for it!
All Booked and Ready to go!
So, none of the above is suitable for your traveler friend as he/she has already past the planning stage and is ready to embark on their journey. Here are some gift ideas for them to take with them on their journey, whether to keep them entertained, make their travels more convenient or to make those long flights more enjoyable, I’ve got an idea for you:
MOMA Muji Microbead Neck Cushion
Grey with Navy Stripe: USD $33.85
White with Grey Stripe: USD $35
This is something both my sister and I cannot travel without. It is the most comfortable neck cushion we have ever owned and it is so light and easy to carry. Just clip it to the strap of your backpack or the handle of your suitcase to ensure you never lose it. Again, the above links are from Amazon, if you do not have access to Amazon I suggest you try Ebay (prices and shipping times will vary).
Nomadix Universal Towel
Made from 100% recycled material, this universal towel is light and space saving. The fabric is absorbent and fast drying, making it perfect for traveling. Use it in the shower, at the beach, after a hike, as a yoga mat or for camping. Choose from an array of patterns. If you are from the US please use the link above. If you live outside the US, you can use this link.
Bose Soundlink Around-Ear Wireless Headphones II
White: USD $229
Black: WAS USD $279 NOW USD $229
I actually own the Soundtrue headphones from Bose which is an older model than the Soundlink and they are the most comfortable headphones I have ever owned. I’ve tried the Soundlink in-store and they felt even more comfortable, it’s like having clouds sitting on your ears. They fold into a compact size and without having to worry about wires they are perfect for wearing on flights and not having to worry about tripping the person sitting next to you. The above links are from Amazon, but if you do not have access to Amazon, these headphones are available from most major retailers.
UE Roll 2 Volcano Wireless Portable Bluetooth Speaker
While we are on the subject of sound, if your traveler friend is planning to do any water activities, this speaker is perfect for them. These speakers are waterproof and can be immersed in liquid up to 1m for up to 30 minutes! It even comes with it’s own floaty so they can have the speaker float beside them as they lounge about in the pool or they can use the attached bungee cord to attach it to the end of their kayak or surfboard. The above link is from Amazon, but if you do not have access to Amazon, these speakers are available from most major retailers.
Fantastic Cities Adult Coloring Book by Steve Mcdonald
Keep them entertained on those long flights with this coloring book. Adult coloring books are great for relieving stress and anxiety, so if your friend is a nervous flyer this could definitely help them pass the time. Filled with amazing drawings of cities, this book makes the perfect gift for the traveler. If you are from outside of the US, you can use this link (AUD $13.96).
For The Well-Travelled Friend
So, your friend has not planned or been planning another trip, but you know they love to travel and have seen their fair share of the world. Here are some gift ideas for them to document and reminisce their travels:
Landmass Scratch-Off Traveler Map
Let your friend document their travels by scratching off all the places they have been and let them discover new places to explore. If you are in the US you will get free shipping!
Fujifilm INSTAX SHARE SP-2 Smart Phone Printer
Currently sold out on Amazon
Still available as part of a kit: USD $234.99
Let your friend print out their memories in the form of a Polaroid. No need to carry a huge and chunky Polaroid camera around when they can print photos straight off their phone when they return home. If you do not have access to Amazon, you can find this avaialble at most major retailers.
Make them a photo book on blurb.com
If you want to give a more thoughtful gift, why not create a photo book for them. Maybe there are some travel memories that you share with this person that you think they will appreciate having a hard copy of. I’ve made a book for every trip I’ve taken so far and they make for a great coffee table book. When friends visit they love to flip through the books and I love sharing my adventures with them. It’s a great conversation starter and so unique and personal.
Hopefully, by now I would have given you enough gift ideas to work off. Let me know if any of these ideas were helpful. Wishing you a Merry Christmas!
